A freshman tells it all
Being a freshman is like being peas without pods. We’re constantly being tossed around and don't have a clue where we are going to be settled. I was excited, scared, and nervous. Questions and bewilderments flew through my mind. How am I supposed to get to different classes in just 5 minutes? How am I going to make friends if I’m meeting different groups of people
every time? It was all a mess.
Now, I am a ninth grader, full of ambitions, minds filled with impractical daydreams of my celebrity crush, and constant speculation of what am I going to wear for tomorrow due to the lack of uniforms.
“To me, transferring from grade 8 to grade 9 is like jumping over a big gap without knowing if you're going to land or not,” Max, a peer of mine said. I couldn’t agree more.
In high school, you’re being rushed with quizzes and exams. I did a test where I have to draw 3 or 4 scatter plots with other questions as well in under 40 minutes. Some students complained about the lack of time, but I know this is how it’s going to be from now on. A teacher has his or her own mindset of how things in the classroom is going to be like, you would have to follow those concepts.
Being a freshman gives me a new perspective of how a typical classroom runs like, and gives me new personalities that I’ve never discovered. Sometimes, there would be ups and downs, but high school has given me this new realization that I have to get myself under control. I'm long gone from being ready, but I'm still figuring it out. Cheers to all freshmen!
